Kanu Patel QSM is an experienced accountant, business adviser, and highly regarded community leader, with a longstanding track record in taxation, business advisory, and property investment.

Kanu founded his own accounting practice, specialising in tax and business advisory services alongside property investment guidance. Under his leadership, the firm grew from a small operation into a team of nine professionals, achieving strong revenue growth before being successfully sold.

Over the course of his career, Kanu has played a pivotal role in helping clients build successful businesses and substantial investment portfolios. His practical, results-focused approach has enabled many to achieve significant financial outcomes. One notable example includes supporting a client who progressed from working as a waste collector to becoming a successful business owner and property investor, ultimately building a portfolio exceeding $17 million in value.

In addition to his professional achievements, Kanu has contributed more than 30 years of dedicated service to the Auckland Indian Association and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre. During this time, he held a range of senior leadership roles, including Treasurer, President, Chair of Finance and Resources, and ultimately Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Throughout his tenure, the organisation experienced significant growth, with assets increasing from approximately $500,000 to $50 million, and annual income rising from $20,000 to $2 million. This transformation helped establish it as one of New Zealand’s most successful and financially robust community organisations.
